Board of Directors
Our Board of Directors consists of seven members each elected to 3-year terms. Divided into three classes, one class is elected each year by the membership. One of the directors maybe an associate member. The executive director is contracted by the board as an ex-officio (without vote) member of the board. The board elects the officers annually following the annual election and installation of the next class of directors. The directors meet regularly by tele-conference and hold 2 - 3 face to face meetings each year.

Keith Fleming begins his first term as President in 2010. He has served on the Board of Directors as Treasurer and as Chair of the Education Commiittee. Keith brings a fresh vitality and initiative through his concern for the development and growth of the association. Keith is president of Brandywine Balustrades in Newark, DE.

Dennis Chamberlain - Vice President

Dennis Chamberlain has participated actively since joining the SMA and was one of the founding members of our Education Committee. Elected in 2009 to his first term on the Board he brings proven desire and ambition that will continue to facilitate the growth and development of our association. Dennis is President of Stair South Inc. of Eatonton, GA.

Terry Driscoll began his first term on the Board in 2010 and brings expert knowlege of the industry especially as it relates to our metal working members. Terry served on the the technical committee of the National Ornamental and Miscellaneous Metals Association. Terry is President of Custom Iron of Zumbrota, MN.

Edwin Woods- Treasurer

Edwin Woods began his first term on the board in 2010. His service to the SMA has been substantial on the Code and Research committee making significant contributions to the development of the Type II rail test in addition to his efforts in code development and education. Edwin is President of Precision Woods of Camillus, NY

Dan O'Brien
|
|
|
Dan O'Brien has been active in the SMA almost since its conception dedicating time to many board assigned projects, chairing the former member services committee, and serving on the board several years ago as the first associate member ever elected to the board. 2009 marked the beginning of Dan's second term on the board. Dan is President of Universal Building Systems of Minneapolis, MN.

Bill Bivona, after taking several years off, in 2011 has begun a second term on the Board after taking several years off. Bill has not only served as a director but also as chairman of the membership committee. Bill is President of Hardwood Designs of Exeter, RI

Rob Cohen

Rob Cohen is new to the SMA Board this year but hopes to be able to contribute from valuable trade association experience while serving on the Board of the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association (KCMA). Rob is the CEO of WM Coffman Resources.

David Cooper - Executive Director

Dave Cooper serves in administering the day to day affairs of the organization at the direction of the Board's decisions and policies. It will likely be his voice you hear anwering the SMA phone. Don't hesitate to call. He is there to serve you, our member, and provide an interface for communicating our programs and services to our members and the public.
